ERNESTO RANCAÑO

Graduated from the San Alejandro Academy in 1991. He has made more than a dozen solo exhibitions in Cuba, Spain, United States, Panama, Mexico, England, Colombia and Dominican Republic, and participated in more than fifty projects and numerous collective exhibitions in Cuba and abroad. He has participated in the preparation of numerous collective murals. His series "- Mal, Buenos +" and "Hugs Prohibited" for only the most recent appointments, received the warmest welcome from the audience and praise from the critics. His works illustrate important publications from various publishers. Part of the brigade "Martha Machado" led by prominent Cuban artist Alexis Leyva (Kcho), which has played a leading role in the effort to bring art to the areas most affected by the hurricanes in several regions of Cuba and the devastating earthquake in Haiti. His work is widely accepted by its clear human message, deep and thoughtful lyricism bill.

With an aesthetics that some critics have called ´post-medieval´, but that owes much to the interpretation of universal art and the exploration of national identity, installed in a fantastic space where any mixture is possible and where sorrows can be enveloped in softness and candour  a search for spirituality that traps the most diverse public can be found in the work of this artist.
